From the early stages of my career as a fashion designer, i have chosen to use traditional, ethnic cloths..
One of the reason is that there is a kind of hidden power in the traditional cloth.
No, it is not about the spiritual content, nor about the economic aspect of beauty.
It is about the power to mould one's character.
Indonesia's native cloth can indeed serve as an instrument to build self confidence and individual,  collective or even National Identity.
Wearing traditional cloth would make someone's appearance look beautiful and elegant, that's for sure.
What's more is that you will feel there is something new in your appearance, a kind of identity. When friends or other nationalities are curious whether you are wearing a Cavalli, you may proudly answer, "It's songket, Indonesia's National Heritage."

Without a touch, a piece of cloth remains a piece of cloth..
Various ethnic communities living in Indonesia, however, have masterfully touched the cloths by their indigenous artistic talents, not only to produce high class arts of clothing but also symbols of inspiration, emotional appreciation, and ritual content.
Each cloth has its own ethnic patterns.
Rich motifs and the meaning the cloth embrace are a treasure of arts that should be preserved as a National Heritage..
